Tour Details
A privately guided day of epicurean delights, local flavours and artistry in the famed Barossa wine region; South Australia’s celebration of some of the world’s finest wine and grape growers. Discover the magic of a contemporary art gallery housed in a century-old farmhouse overlooking the rolling Seppeltsfield Vineyards, enjoy private wine tasting and experience the history and intricacies of winemaking from an esteemed Baron of the Barossa.
Start your private tour at Wonderground, a contemporary art gallery and cellar door run by local artists Kirsty Kingsley and Renee Saxe. The gallery has been developed to entice wonder and curiosity with an aim of creating a dedicated home for the valley’s thriving art scene. Owners Renee and/or Kirsty will take you a relaxed personalised tour and share stories about the local artists that are currently exhibiting in their Gallery. Sipping on a variety of Wonderground Wines peruse and admire the works and other features of the property, including a beautiful studio in a rustic farmhouse where the pair hold charcoal workshops for the local community.
From Wonderground, your private tour continues to Alkina Wines. With 70-year-old vines and a 170-year-old stone building, brought back to life through the painstaking care of the team, Alkina Wines is magical place with terroir winegrowing and regenerative farming at its heart. Enjoy a regionally inspired lunch featuring seasonal dishes prepared from their organic kitchen garden, followed by a guided micro-terroir flight of rare wines that make up the property’s Polygon Project.
Your day will conclude with a private tasting experience hosted by a Baron of the Barossa.
The Barons of Barossa is a vibrant collective compromising more than 90 individuals that form a dynamic association committed to champion and nurture the Barossa. A dedication to the region’s wines, viticulture, and culinary excellence, you will get the opportunity to be hosted by a Baron on a unique and truly spectacular experience at The Barossa Cellar, Australia’s only regional cellar and grand repository of Barossa wine.
Here, don a pair of gumboots and go for a walk to learn about a shiraz vineyard like no other. Planted from cuttings of 35 of Australia’s most famous shiraz vineyards – think Henschke, Yalumba, Langmeil, Greenock Creek, Elderton and more – this vineyard speaks of Barossa’s old vine heritage and its generous, collaborative wine industry. The true significance of this vineyard lies in its DNA, representing some of the oldest shiraz genetics in the world. A highlight of this location is the famed ‘The Vault’ – a 3000+ bottle collection of rare and distinguished wines. You will then have the opportunity to taste six wines from this prestigious collection, hand-selected by Grand Master Baron of Barossa, Louisa Rose.
